Albe Saint Michel

The parks of the Latin Quarter

Publish on Monday, 2 May 2022 dans Visit Paris

The Latin Quarter is undoubtedly one of the most famous districts of Paris. Synonymous with learning since the Middle Ages, it is home to wonderful monuments to culture such as the Sorbonne, the Pantheon and the Cluny Museum. During your stay at the Hotel Albe Saint-Michel, you can discover this cultural hub with its cafés frequented by intellectuals since the beginning of the 20th century and its delightful green spaces.

Step into the past

Leaving your Hotel Albe Saint-Michel, it will only take you five minutes on foot to reach a place where time has seemingly stood still: the Square René Viviani. Located on the banks of the Seine, this exquisitely landscaped space offers a sublime view of Notre-Dame Cathedral. Watched over by the benevolent silhouette of the Church of Saint Julien le Pauvre, one of the city’s oldest sacred places, the square has a rose garden, a contemporary bronze fountain, and gravelled paths. The atmosphere is peaceful and refreshing in the heart of summer. It is also home to the oldest tree in Paris, a robinia planted in 1601...

Science and history

Also close to our hotel, the Medieval Garden of the Cluny Museum invites you to immerse yourself in the imagery of the Middle Ages. Forest of the Unicorn, terrace, simple garden… Symbolism is present everywhere in this garden inspired by the museum’s collections, and it all adds up to a charming experience. A little further on, you can find the Jardin des Plantes, a place of both pleasure and knowledge. In a few steps, you go from the alpine garden to the garden of roses and rocks, from tropical greenhouses to the garden of irises. And this major botanical garden’s menagerie remains a must for family outings!

Unusual, surprising, and steeped in history, the parks of the Latin Quarter have their own character and invite you to enjoy timeless moments...
